Who the hell is Recon?

Who are we?


A network of veteran and military spouse real estate agents who agree that the civilian model for real estate puts frequently moving military families at a disadvantage. We just happen to care more about military families than we do the commission.

How does it work?


With today’s technology, most people find the home they are looking for online before they even meet an agent. They call a stranger to arrange a look at the home of another military family and often, they buy it. The result? A sweet military family (who moved two years ago and already paid 6% commission) is going to get charged another 6% commission to an agent for only a few minutes of work…only to sell the home to another military family. With Recon, you list your home for others to view. When you find a buyer Recon provides you with an agent to do the paperwork for a flat fee of $5,000. There is no catch.

When should I list?

When you call an agent, they are going to tell you that you need to list your home X days from when you want to close. That just creates a false and unnecessarily stressful timeline. Why not list your home as soon as you know you’re moving, and let other moving military families have a look? The reality of it is, you could close on the home before you even leave, and the military family moving to the area would have a home upon arrival, instead of the typical model, which includes moving into a hotel or temporary housing while trying to find a place to live.

What's the cost?

To list, sell, and/or rent, your home will always cost a whopping $0. That’s right—it’s completely free! There literally is NO catch so why not try to sell on Recon. If Recon finds your buyer, the seller pays only a $5,000 flat fee, instead of the industry based 6% of the sale price. This model saves military families tens of thousands of dollars in commission on homes and allows them the opportunity to benefit from the equity in their home.

Worst case scenario?


If your home doesn’t sell on Recon (but it will), we will assist you as you list it on the regular Multiple Listing Service (MLS), following the model of the rest of homeowners out there. BUT…wait for it…using Recon still allows you to get a lower commission rate than you would if you followed the typical real estate model. Let’s be honest: It’s a no-brainer!
